STAY
Spending time at Yamashita-ya
Over the course of 130 years,
The luxury of doing nothing.
One group per day, entire building rental.
Old beams, pillars, floorboards, and alcoves.
While preserving the history that this house has accumulated,
The plumbing and facilities have been upgraded to meet modern comfort standards.
Here, exploring the rooms is also part of the stay.

LIVING
A place where time seems to slow down.
A living room surrounded by thick beams and pillars.
It's not a space that creates a new sense of oldness,
What has supported this house for over 130 years
We've kept as much as possible.
I read books. I listen to music. I gaze at the garden.
Even spending time without any specific plans is part of the experience of staying at Yamashita-ya.

DINING & KITCHEN
Stay as if you were living there.
A modern kitchen in an old house.
Bring your own food and enjoy yourself freely.
I'm going to cook with the ingredients I bought in Takayama.
I brew my coffee slowly in the morning.
Not a hotel room,
You can spend your time here as if you were being looked after for a private home.

TOKONOMA
This is the place where the memories of this house are most vividly preserved.
The alcove remaining in Yamashita-ya.
Just like beams, columns, and floorboards,
This is not a modern remake.
Instead of adding something to make it look old,
To leave exactly what has truly remained here.
The values that Yamashita-ya cherishes
This is one of the places where you will feel it most strongly.

BEDROOM
Have a quiet night.
A simple bedroom set up on tatami mats.
The end of the day,
In the quiet of the old house.
Without placing unnecessary items,
I made sure to prioritize time for sleep.

WASHROOM
Bringing modern comfort to an old house.
Leave what should be left,
Things that should be made comfortable are now in the modern age.
Bathrooms,
The bathroom, toilet, and other plumbing fixtures have been newly renovated.
Experiencing history and experiencing inconvenience are two different things.
That was also something that Yamashita-ya valued.

GARDEN
Even the garden is part of this house.
A small garden stretches out beyond the veranda.
Morning light.
A stone wet with rain.
Moss and trees that change their appearance with the seasons.
Even without going outside,
We aimed to create a place where you can experience the changing seasons in the high mountains.
The entire building,
Just one pair.
Yamashita-ya is not a hotel with many guest rooms.
The living room, the kitchen, the bedroom, the alcove, and the garden—all of them.
This is a private house, available for only one group per day.
A space that has stood the test of time for over 130 years, combined with modern comforts.
Please spend your evening however you like, in either of those settings.

A history of 130 years,
I'll look after it for the night.
